Hurricanes 13U 4, Goose's Gamers 3 (5)

The Hurricanes picked up their first win of the season in their first try Monday night at the Sportsplex.  Behind a first inning two run double from third baseman Tyler Rowe and three no hit innings from starting pitcher Avery Shugrue, Hamden battled their way to a 4-3 victory over Goose's Gamers in five innings.  The Hurricanes demonstrated great patience at the plate coaxing 9 walks while receiving key hits from Trevor Brandi and Kyle Brennan.  The bullpen also did their job with Connor Dow striking out the side in the 4th and Andrew Rice coming on for the save forcing the Gamers to ground into a 6-4-3 double play turned beautifully by Dow and Brandi in the final inning.  Hamden returns to action Saturday in a double dip against the Branford Sting.  Game one's first pitch will be at 10 a.m. at Legion Field in Hamden.
