Hurricanes 10, Branford Sting 3

Hamden edged ahead of Branford slightly in their head to head matchups this year taking game four 10-3 Thursday night at the Sportsplex to improve to 11-2-1 on the year.  Tyler Rowe (2-1) worked 6 1/3 masterful innings allowing only three Sting hits and walking only one to earn his second victory of the year.  The game started slow for both teams but Branford was able to deliver the first blow scoring a lone run in the top of the fourth.  Hamden responded with three straight singles from Tyler Rowe, Andrew Kirschenbaum and Trevor Brandi to lead off the bottom half of the frame.  They were only able to get one run however which came on a sacrifice fly to center field by catcher Damon Savenelli which plated Rowe.  Hamden plated two more in the bottom of the fifth aided by a one out double by Kwadir McIntyre followed by an RBI single from James Michaud.  The Canes busted the game open in the bottom of the sixth and in the process batted around.  Multiple Hurricanes tallied hits and plated runs during this frame but it was Doug Shane's two run double down the left field line that really seemed to put the nail in the Sting's coffin.  Kyle Brennan came on with one out in the seventh to relieve Rowe.  The Sting were able to plate two but that was all they'd get.  Hamden returns to action Saturday in a double header against the Shoreline Hammerheads at Legion Field in Hamden.  First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m.
