The Hamden Hurricanes 13U (23-5-1, 18-3-1 GNHBL) were eliminated from the 2012 War at the Shore Independence Day Tournament Monday morning when they lost to the Milford Raiders of the East Shore Travel Baseball League 8-4 in the quarterfinal round. Tamir March (4-1) worked for the third straight day but was the tough luck loser on this day. Avery Shugrue worked 1 2/3 innings to start the game but had to leave the game due to arm pain. James Michaud came on in the fifth and finished up the game for the Canes allowing four runs on three hits. The Canes didn't do much to help the pitching staff on this day only mustering four hits. Avery Shugrue and Tyler Rowe both had a double in the loss. Hamden returns to league action Thursday against the CT Tides at 6 p.m. in Hamden. Field to be announced.
Also, it has been announced that there will be a playoff for the 13U GNHBL. Dates and locations to be announced.
